Today I learned the real meaning of joy and pain...

Today I attended my cousins funeral while it was painful to say goodbye it was joyful to hear how she persevered through the pain of MS.  I learned that even with her pain, her inability to walk sometimes, being blind in one eye and just fighting MS to the end you would never know she had a disability.  She walked, talked, smiled and encouraged everyone she came in contact with in such a graceful way.  It made me start to think about how I'm handling my struggle with LUPUS.  Am I doing all that I can to live my life to the fullest or am I giving in to this disease?  I have been facing so many difficulties over these past few days and I'm not complaining but the pain, fatigue and stiffness was really starting to take me to that dark place called DEPRESSION.  Saying goodbye to my cousin made me appreciate that even through this pain, fatigue and stiffness, I'm still able to see the sun shine and maneuver through another day.  Anyway, I will love and miss her beautiful smile and awesome personality but I also know that I have to start fighting a little harder through this pain to enjoy everything that life has to offer.  I pray you all have pain-free days (or as close to it as possible), live life to the fullest, laugh and smile as if today is your last that way we leave nothing undone.

i am sorry about your cousin. MS can be a horrible disease! You cousin sounds like she was more on the lucky side i am happy say! This neighbor bought the house next to hers and had it completely remolded for her mother who had MS to live in. I would go sit with her when her daughter had to unexpectedly go get kids etc. Her mother was in her 60's than..could not walk, talk or even feed herself. She could speak but i never could understand her....but she always was smiling...amazing and inspiring like you say!

I was just going to ask you if you are on pain medication...than recalled you do not have health insurance. But can you take ibuprofen?  I am saying get otc but take up to higher doses that doctor would prescribe.

I found it to be incredibly helpful with the pain as long as i was able to take it...eat food so you don't wreck your stomach like I did.  Plus you can buy store brand so should not be to expensive.

I really hope someone like you does look into SSI.  Yes you are facing a ton of difficulties and i wish there was more i could say and do for you!  I think you are on right track...just sometimes fighting it can wear you out...but everyone has to find their own way to handle the pain.  I know that enjoying life sure makes it a whole lot easier. When my life is happy...yes i hurt but just does not seem to matter as much.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss...your cousin sounds like one of those kinds of people who brings sunshine into all those lives around her!

i'm so sorry for your the lose of your cousin!  Sounded like she was a strong person and kept fighting.  Take your time to get the rest that you need to get threw this.  Let yourself go thro all stages of grief but dont forget to take care of yourself (eat, meds, rest, etc)!  Just take it day by day and you'll never forget her but one day you will be able to think of her with smiles on your face.  I lost my aunt, who was my bff, 3 years and its NOT an easy process but stay strong and you have to take control of you or the lupus will take over...i found this out the hard way and fainted walking downsteps and had to go out on short term disability.  Stay strong !!!  And very sorry again..
